Attendance and Participation

Students are encouraged to actively engage and participate in discussion during class.  Roll will be taken each class period and points will be given to students who actively participate in class.  Unexcused absences will result in a loss of participation points for that day.  Up to 80% of participation points can earned for excused absences by writing a one page, double-spaced paper on a web design topic of the instructor’s choice.  Based on departmental policy, 6 or more absences will equate to and become, a failing grade.

Assignments

8 Separate assignments will be given throughout the course.  Each assignment is designed to give students the required knowledge to complete the final project.  The assignments and corresponding deadlines are listed on the course website.  The assignments and deadlines may be modified throughout the semester according to classroom needs.

Late work will receive a 5% per day late reduction without a valid excuse.   Arrangements should be made with the instructor for excused absences in order to complete the necessary assignments.

Tests

Two tests will be administered during the semester. The tests may include short answer, fill-in-the blank, multiple choice, true/false questions, or may be project based such as hand coding a short webpage. Test questions come from the lectures, discussions, and handouts. No make-up tests can be given unless arrangements are made beforehand.

Lab Time

You may need to spend 2-4 hours per week outside of class to complete assignments and projects, study for tests, and prepare for class. This may vary from student to student and from week to week during the semester. All software packages required for this course are available at labs. Lab hours are posted outside the lab doors.
